Arthroscopy in Knee Pain and Fractures
Knee arthroscopy is a surgical procedure that is generally used to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions of the knee joint. In this procedure a small scope is inserted by the surgeon that is called an arthroscope, this arthroscope is entered into the knee joint that allows the doctor to view the perfect condition of the joint and to examine whatever the condition is and helps the doctor to how to proceed further. The arthroscope is inserted without making any large incision or cutting through the skin or any other soft tissues.
Certain conditions in which knee arthroscopy is done:-
Knee arthroscopy is generally recommended in painful conditions that can't be treated with non-surgical treatment like rest, physical activity, injectables, or medication that can reduce the inflammation. Knee arthroscopy is done to relieve painful conditions in which there is damage to cartilage surfaces or other soft tissues that are surrounding the joint.
Common Arthroscopic procedures for knee include:-
- Reconstruction of the torn ACL(Anterior Cruciate Ligament)/ PCL or other ligaments.
- Repair or the removal of a torn meniscus
- Removal of inflamed synovial tissue
- Knee sepsis Treatment
- Treatment of Patella related problems
- Any damage to articular cartilage
- Fracture of knee joint
- Less damage to the tissues
- Faster healing time
- Less pain during the procedure
- Only fewer stitches and small incisions
- Lower risk of infection because of these smaller incisions.
