A subchondral fracture is a fracture of trabecular cancellous bone just beneath the subchondral bone plate without disrupting articular surfaces. Subchondral insufficiency fractures are more common in elderly women, but it can occur at any age group. There are some risk factors for subchondral Fractures they involve if a patient is having conditions like osteoporosis, osteoarthritis or meniscal tears. Conditions like this are seen through MRI results in subchondral fracture conditions. After diagnosing subchondral Fracture, you have to soon go for treating it. Avoiding it for too long can result in severe complications like osteochondral injury or even affect your mobility and increase your dependency. Low grade subchondral Fracture is treated by conservative method with restricted weight bearing.
